Mangalore, Mar 28: "The government will release Rs 30 crore for better implementation of drinking water projects in Mangalore," said deputy chief minister and finance minister B S Yediyurappa.

Answering a question from Blasius D'Souza and Pratapchandra Shetty of Congress and Shobha Karandlaje of BJP in the state assembly on Monday March 27, he said Mangalore is facing the dearth of drinking water during every summer season.  So the government will release additional funds to solve this problem.

He also said that the government will also offer financial help, in case Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) comes forward to build another vented dam.

"As per the project report prepared during the meeting held at DC's office on Sunday April 19 the building of the vented dam and implementation of drinking water project would cost Rs 40 crore.  So the government will contribute Rs 30 crore and the remaining Rs 10 crore will be provided by MCC," he added.
