Udupi, Mar 28: There is a constant remark that today's education system is the main reason behind the youngsters losing track.  Moral and social values which were the hallmarks of the education system of the yore have given way to competence and rivalry.  This has indeed led many students to lose focus on their goal and tread a wrong way.

But a close watch at the education system will reveal that many of the teachers who are supposed to lead students in right path, themselves are a lost lot.  Their personal conduct and dealings with persons often lead the students to immoral life.  No more teaching is a vocation.  It has become only a profession for most of the present day teachers.

This teacher from Vidyamandira school of Harady-Salikeri near Brahmavar here is the perfect example of a teacher who does not know the worth of his profession.

Mohan (30), a teacher at Vidyamandira school of Harady has now been accused of sexually harassing a 9-year-old school girl.  A complaint has now been lodged against him in the Brahmavar police for sexually assaulting the class 3 girl.

The school sources also said that the teacher has now been suspended from service by the school management.

The police sources said that Mohan sexually assaulted the said girl during a special class some days ago.  Though he had threatened the girl against informing about it at home, the victim told about this to her parents a couple of days ago.

Shocked by this shameful act of this teacher, the parents of the girl along with a few resident of Harady-Salikeri lodged a complaint with the Brahmavar police.

The latest news said that Mohan has been absconding ever since the issue hit the headlines.  More than the police, the localites are on a hunt to spot him.  But his family sources said that he has gone to Theerthahally for a training programme. 

But they do not have any answer as who is conducting a training programme for teachers when examinations are going on in almost all schools.
