Sullia, Mar 31: "Monkey fever which spread across the taluk and even to parts of Puttur taluk, has not yet brought under control," said taluk medical officer Dr O R Srirangappa.

So far 34 positive cases have been detected in the taluk.  Among them 26 cases have been detected and confirmed alone at Balpa.  Yenekal stands second with 7 cases of monkey fever whereas one positive case has been detected at Bellare.

The medical officer also said that a total of 6, 342 persons have been vaccinated on precautionary grounds.
