Women's body seeks report on maid's death

New Delhi, Nov 6 (IANS): The National Commission for Women (NCW) Wednesday sought a report from Delhi Police on the death of a maid after being allegedly tortured by the wife of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Dhananjay Singh.

"We are seeking a report. If the maid was beaten up, that too by a woman, we will take action," NCW chairperson Mamata Sharma told IANS.

The wife was arrested Tuesday for allegedly torturing their maids and beating another minor servant with sticks and rods, police said. Her husband BSP MP Dhananjay Singh was arrested and booked for destruction of evidence and violating the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.
