Mangalore, Nov 13: The valedictory ceremony of the two-day long district-level sports meet 2013-14 for the students of primary and high school organized by the district administration, D K district panchayat, and public education department in association with St Mary’s Educational Institutions, Falnir, was held on Tuesday November 12 at Mangala Stadium.
Fr Sunil D’Souza, assistant parish priest, Milagres Church, and Abdul Rauf, corporator, Attavar ward, were the chief guests on the occasion followed by various other officials and dignitaries.
In his address, Abdul Rauf said, “Sports are important in a student’s life to maintain one’s physical health. As students, it is a must to participate in sports. Losing and winning is common in competitions and sports events, but one shouldn’t be sad and disheartened at losing and should take it as a challenge,” he said.
Fr D’Souza also spoke on the occasion and urged all students to take an active role in such sports events. He also congratulated the winners of the events.
