M'lore: Nehru Jayanthi celebrated at district Congress office

Mangalore, Nov 14: ‘Nehru Jayanthi’, the birth anniversary of India's first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was celebrated at district Congress office here on Thursday November 14.

Mangalore South MLA J R Lobo offered floral tribute to the portrait of Jawaharlal Nehru along with other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA J R Lobo said, "Being the first Prime Minister of the nation, Panditji fought for Indian Independence and thereafter led the nation towards development. It is he who gave importance to industrial development in the country and he has contributed vastly to other fields."

"Jawaharlal Nehru is among the prominent figures in Congress who strengthened the party," he said, urging party members to follow his principles and thus contribute towards the development of the country.

Kodijal Ibrahim, in-charge district president, KPCC secretary Ivan D’Souza, T K Sudheer, Ashraf, Ivan D’Souza, Sabitha Misquith, Farooq Ullal, Narayan Kotian among others were present.
