Udupi, Nov 20: A fire broke out in the premises of Manipal Press here on Wednesday November 20.
The cause of the fire is not known, but locals speculated that as the grass inside the compound was dry a stray cigarette butt might have sparked the flames.
As soon as the fire was noticed, the fire brigade was informed and three fire engines rushed to the spot.
As a precautionary measure, the production unit and the godown were evacuated.
The fire was doused after an operation that lasted for about two hours. The damage was said to be minor.
