M'lore: Lourdes Central School hosts colourful sports day

The annual sports day of the kindergarten and primary sections of Lourdes Central School (LCS), Bejai was held on Saturday, November 23 at the LCS open grounds at Bejai here.

Dr Rahul Bhandary, Prof and HoD of community dentistry, Nitte University was the chief guest. Rev Icon Palanna, vice-president, PTEC, LCS Bejai was the guest of honour. Fr Dr Victor Machado, manager, LCS, Fr Michael Lobo, principal, LCS, and others were present on the occasion.

The sports meet was officially inaugurated by hoisting the school flag and singing the school anthem. March-past by the various groups of the school was a special highlight.

The groups also performed the physical exercise accompanied by the beats of the school band. The children of LKG, UKG and primary classes performed various dances out of which a special dance “Lourdes Express” won the hearts of everyone gathered there.

Delivering his message, Dr Rahul urged the students to involve themselves in sports activities, as it would help them in the overall physical and intellectual development. "Play more of group games like cricket, football etc, as it will increase your mutual understanding along with assisting in your physical growth," he said.

"There are many sportspersons who have achieved a lot and have brought good name to our country. Take them as examples and achieve something in the field of sports," he added.

A variety of sports activities were held during the course of the day.
