M'lore: AIFUCTO Statutory Conference to be held from Nov 30 - Dec 2

Mangalore, Nov 29:
The 27th Statutory Conference of All India Federation of University & College Teachers’ Organizations will be held in Mangalore from November 30, December 1 and December 2 by AMUCT at Loyola Hall, St Aloysius PU College Mangalore. Over 1500 teachers from more than 20 states from all over the country will be participating in the national seminar 'Changing Paradigms of Higher Education-12th Plan Initiatives'.
 
Union Minister for Transportation, Road and Highways Dr Oscar Fernandes, will inaugurate the conference at 10:30 am on November 30.  Shri. B. RamanathRai, Minister for Forest, Environment, and Ecology will release the conference souvenir. Shri. Vinayakumar Sorake, Minister for Urban Development, Government of Karnatka will be the chief guest.
 
J R  Lobo MLA, Captain Ganesh Karnik, MLC, Fr Denzil Lobo, rector, St Aloysius Institutions, Dr B L Bhagyalakshmi, director of Collegiate Education and Office bearers of AIFUCTO and FUCTAK will be the guests of honour.
 
The National Seminar will be inaugurated at 10:30 am on December 1 by Sri Abhayachandra, Minister of State for Fisheries and Youth Services.  Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) will preside over. Professor Ravi Srivastava, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi and professor Sudhanshu Bhushan, NUEPA (National University for Educational Planning and Administration) will present their view points on issues concerning higher education.
 
The conference will highlight on various issues of higher education and Movement Resolutions will be passed.
 
Former Leaders of AIFUCTO, FUCTAK and AMUCT will be felicitated at 6 pm on November 30, 2013. Cultural programmes have been organized at 6.30 pm in the evening.
 
About AAIFUCTO

AIFUCTO is a national organization of university and college teachers with more than 5 lakh membership. FUCTAK and AMUCT are affiliated to it. AIFUCTO has, in its existence of 50 years taken up the several issues concerning higher education and also the issues of teacher service conditions. The organization launched several agitations with demands like public funded higher education, inclusiveness, recruitment of teachers, quality improvement, better service conditions and scales of pay, etc.
