Mumbai, Nov 29: Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli was rushed to hospital after suffering a heart attack while driving on a busy road at Sion in Central Mumbai and calling out to a Mumbai Traffic Police officer to get him to a hospital lest he die. The 41- year old sportsman had undergone angioplasty on two blocked arteries last year and seemed to be in extreme distress until he was taken to the cardiac ICU of Lilavati hospital. The Traffic Police organised a team headed by Senior Inspector Sujata Patil to get Kambli to the hospital, as soon as she received a phone call from Constable Kumar Datta Shedage informing her of Kambli's grave medical condition. Alone in his Pajero, the cricketer required the constable to get a private driver to drive the vehicle with its occupant in the back seat to get to the nearest hospital.
