Congress leader's son held after car hits two bikers


New Delhi, Dec 5 (IANS): Faiz Saifi, son of Congress leader Shakeel Saifi, was arrested in the capital after the car he was driving hit and injured two bikers, police said Thursday.

Faiz Saifi, in his early 20s, was in an inebriated condition Wednesday while driving the car, police said.

The accident occurred Wednesday night at Nihal Vihar area in west Delhi.

After hitting the two bikers, the car rammed into a electric pole.

Police said the two bikers Kishan Kumar Pandey, 40, and Shiv Kumar, 30, were admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. Their condition was stable, doctors said.

The two were coming from their Dwarka office towards their home in Nihal Vihar.

"Saifi was in an inebriated condition while driving the car. He was accompanied by his friend Amit, who was sitting in the back seat," police said.

People present at the spot beat up Saifi and his friend and also damaged the car.

Shakeel Saifi is a Congress legislator in Delhi.
