Udupi, Dec 9: The profession of astrology, Vastu and palmistry is not restricted to any person or religion. The art can be learned by anyone who is interested and ready to pursue it with committment, dedication and earnestness. Valerian Saldanha (59) is a true example of astrology having transcended boundaries of religion. A Christian by faith, he has not only mastered the art of astrology, he has even made it his profession. Valerian completed his primary, high school and college education in Udupi. He then pursued his education in Sanskrit and got MA degree in it. Besides studying Sanskrit, he studied the Vedas from scholars and went on to study astrology. He realized that Vastu Shastra becomes meaningful only when one can grasp astrology and went on to study palmistry and Vastu Shastra from senior experts. He has groomed several astrologers in astrology training camps held at Geethamandira under the aegis of Udupi’s Puthige Math.
His knowledge and memory power are excellent. He is able to recall the lines from the original book according to the context. He has participated in discussions between heads of Ashta Maths in the presence of scholars has earned appreciation from them for the way he put forth arguments and discussed them. Besides that he has participated in TV interviews and discussions without making use of facilities like computer or computerized astrological tables for predictions. His way of calmly answering enquiries only with the help of pen and paper and quickly making calculations mentally has been appreciated by one and all.
Though he has grown into a great scholar, he has never thrown his weight around but remained a simple, down-to-earth and humane. Anyone who approaches him for astrological solutions to problems and business related worries is treated warmly and with compassion. His attitude is truly praiseworthy.
With vast experience and attractive personality, he suggests simple solutions in a manner a lay person may understand, without expecting rewards in return. He accepts whatever the people give and sends them back with a smile.
