Stop infighting, prepare for 2014: Sonia to party leaders

New Delhi, Dec 9 (IANS): Shaken by the poor performance of the Congress in assembly polls in four states, party president Sonia Gandhi has asked senior leaders to stop infighting, take the government's good work to the people and start preparing for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, party sources said Monday.

Soon after the assembly poll results were announced Sunday, the Congress chief said her party needed "deep introspection".

Sources said Gandhi called a meeting Monday of general secretaries in charge to review the assembly results in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, where the party performed badly.

Gandhi asked them to stop infighting, explain social welfare policies and programmes of the central government to the people and start preparing for the next battle of general elections next year.

She said high prices of food items was the main reason behind public anger against the Congress.

She also mentioned the challenge to tackle corruption, which pushes voters away from the party.

Mizoram, where the Congress won comfortably and will form the government again, has come as the only saving grace for the party in this round of assembly polls, widely seen as a "semi-final" ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

While the Congress was decimated in Delhi, winning just eight of the 70 seats, its main rival BJP won an absolute majority in Rajasthan, winning 162 seats of the 199 seats for which polls were held.

The Congress could get only 21 seats in Rajasthan, where it was ruling for five years.

In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP retained power winning 165 of 230 assembly constituencies, and the Congress won only 58.

In Chhattisgarh too, the BJP retained power, wining 49 of 90 seats, while the Congress won 39.

Main problem is many of Congress men do not like Sonia Gandhi as their leader but nobody dare to go against her.
But in BJP when electing P.M. candidate their leaders not even care about L.K. Advani.

No need to worry ma'am .As your leaders still maintain that there is no anti congress wave or Modi wave, 2014 should get you absolute majority on your own.

Please don’t give the party tickets to the dynasty leadership and corrupt politicians.
Follow the AAP method of selecting the candidates who is clean and popular.
Start counter publicity with good catchy topics and events one after the other like how Modi is doing. This I have advised to you long back but the BJP is following them whereas your leadership is sleeping over it.
Hey Congress leaders, it is better late than never. Start with a bang at war footing and create a catch project like how the BJP hijacked your Sardar Valabhbhai Patel as their leader. Involve the youth in each catchy events.
Project the good governance of Congress over communal politics of BJP to the youth and the age group below 35 years because they together constitute 67% of the population.
Reach out to the people that are not happening in a big way by Congress like how the BJP advertises in the FM stations all over India. Come on, do something to attract the attention and make you heard by the people of India. Start innovative events with strong messages with a bang and involve people in events after events throughout rural India. Please don’t start those outdated padyathras that inconveniences the general public. Always do the events during Sundays and holidays.
Jab paisa fekhega tho public thamasha dekega but involve best foreign campaign agencies to give a kick start the Congress Lokh Sabha election with a bang.
    Jai Hind!

Under utilization of talents of leaders, lack of targets and accountability and infighting are the main causes for the debacles of Congress in the last state elections. Now the parliament election is approaching and the party needs to set right the above main discrepancies without any further delay.Press need to be handled properly with the right coverage about the party performance and future plans in the media to equip the public with the right information. The success is sure in the parliament election if everybody work with oneness and with commitment. All the best.Thanq.

It is the sycophantic attitude of nearly all the veteran congress leaders who matured with this quality and moved around Congress President and the Vice-President to say that all is OK on the streets of India. Least to mention that the President and Rahul Gandhi had any touch with the outside reality. Even now, it seems Congress wants to win the coming General Election with one Slogan "Modi is danger for India, Keep Modi away" instead of really challenging the opponents on issues affecting the common man. AAP is the only hope and their performance in Delhi justifies that they be given an opportunity, when we had the patience to tolerate Congress for 40 years and BJP for a decade.
