Kasargod: Police seize 15 kg of illegally stored explosives

Kasargod, Dec 11: Manjeshwar police on Tuesday December 10 seized large amounts of illegally stored explosives near Paivalike here and arrested one person.

M Mohammed Kunhi (65) of Paivalike Chanttangai house is the person arrested.

The police had received secret information that a large cache of explosives were stored behind his house at Bayikatte.  Police team led by Manjeshwar station circle inspector Bijulal conducted the raid.

Nearly 15 kg of Ammonium nitrate, five gelatin sticks and other explosive substances were found during the raid. 

Mohammed Kunhi is the owner of a quarry but had no permission to use explosives, said the police. He only had the permission of the department of mines and zoology, they said.
