New Delhi, Dec 13 (IANS): A 46-year-old customs official was found dead in a hotel here Friday morning, said police.

The body of the official, identified as Arjun B. Pawar, was recovered from room number 402 of Avtar Hotel situated in Paharganj area in central Delhi.

Pawar had come to Delhi from Goa Tuesday to attend a seminar organised here on the issue of Seventh Pay Commission.

He had come here with a delegation of 12 people, belonging to different states, and had taken a room on rent in the hotel.

"He attended the seminar Thursday and went to his room after having dinner. A hotel staff felt something wrong when he did not open the door Friday morning despite repeated knocks," said a police officer.

"The door was broken open in police presence and Pawar's body was found on the bed," said the officer.
