Nokia launches Lumia 1520, to focus more on 'experiences'


New Delhi, Dec 16 (IANS): Finnish mobile phone handset-maker Nokia here Monday launched its Lumia 1520 model and Vipul Mehrotra, director and head of smart devices at Nokia India, Middle East and Africa, said the company will focus more on 'experiences'.

“This is the 10th Lumia device that we have launched in India. Going forward, we will focus more on services or experiences like mapping, imaging, music and many more,” Mehrotra told reporters on the sidelines of the launch.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 is a 6-inch Lumia smartphone priced at Rs.46,999. It is based on Windows Phone 8 operating system with a 20 megapixel camera. It comes with 2GB RAM and 32 GB internal user memory.

Regarding Nokia 'experience', he said the company will remain focused on three types of experiences in the coming days -- capture and relive (imaging), discover and enjoy (music) and location (exploring and mapping).

Mehrotra said the handset-maker is phasing out the phone models which it launched in 2012.

Taking about launching Nokia tablet Lumia 2520 in India, Mehrotra said there are no plans in that regard as that tablet is made for LTE-focused markets.

He further added that in 2014, the company will see launches in Nokia Asha phone category and Lumia lineup.
