Govt may order an inquiry into Gujarat 'snooping' case

New Delhi, Dec 19 (PTI) :  A commission of inquiry may be ordered by the Centre into the alleged "snooping" on a woman in Gujarat allegedly at the behest of Amit Shah, a close aide of BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde today said many women organisations and NGOs had given representations to President Pranab Mukherjee demanding a probe into alleged "snooping" on the woman and the President had referred the applications to the Home Ministry.

"My department is examining them. There are some formalities too that have to be completed. It should not happen or look like as if we are taking a haphazard decision against a party.

Hence, our department is going into details and once that is done, very soon we will take a decision on that," he told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

Shinde was replying to a question on the possibility of ordering a probe into the alleged "snooping" incident.

Two news portals, Cobrapost and Gulail, had claimed on November 15 that Amit Shah had ordered illegal surveillance of a woman in Gujarat at the behest of one "saheb".

They had released purported taped conversation between Shah and IPS officer G L Singhal to support their claim but said the authenticity of the tape could not be confirmed.

However, the father of the woman had told the National Commission of Women that his daughter does not want any probe into the issue as there was no encroachment of her privacy.

"It is an earnest wish of my daughter that no further probe (in snooping issue) is necessary as being politically demanded," he had said in a letter to NCW and Gujarat State Commission for Women.

Sources said a final decision on conducting a probe through a commission of inquiry will be taken only after the Union Cabinet gives its approval.

If the Cabinet gives its nod, the government may ask the Supreme Court to spare one of its sitting judges or a retired judge to head the commission.

A commission of inquiry will have independence as well as adequate powers to seek official documents and call people for questioning, sources said.

A probe by such a commission is considered more credible than a normal police probe, they said.

Congress does not believe in evil, witchcraft, black magic and all those sort of things which only RSS\BJP believe and practice as they are still backwards and still trying to go back to the stone age era.
Congress want to eradicate all these by bringing in law to ban these senseless practices but BJP is hindering as usual.
Then you should very well know who is really evil and anti people.

Central Govt of CONG tried to malign the name of AAP and Kejriwal with many inquiries and notices from Tax depts and E.C. But it did not stick and people of Delhi gave a fitting reply to Cong. Now same trick is being tried by Cong against Modi also. The final result will be same like Delhi-AAP.

It could be that there is too much pressure on the lady\family from the source of snooping and asking her to say the things that she through her father has said. There is no denial of snooping anywhere.

But the fact remains that State Government machinery was used to snoop at an ordinary individual on the behest of an aide of Modi, which is not allowed in India. In Russia KGB used to do that but not in India.
When one gets too haughty and over confident some things like this happens which will show what actually they are in Gujarat.

Who knows maybe lot of people are under surveillance in Gujarat - KGB Style.

This case is more sensational and serious than the sex scandal of Tehalka and it looks carelessness, the way the Central Government handled this case so late since the culprits need to be imprisoned with more severe punishment.Thank you.
