In Jharkhand, Modi will speak with parliament back

Ranchi, Dec 27 (IANS): The Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will address a rally Sunday in the Jharkhand capital, where a model of the parliament building will form the backdrop, a party leader said Friday.

Modi earlier addressed a rally in Chhattisgarh where the stage was shaped like the ramparts of the Red Fort in Delhi, from where, traditionally, the prime minister addresses the nation on Independence Day each year.

"The back side of the main stage from where Modi will address the rally will be in the form of Parliament House. When Modi speaks, it will appear like he is addressing people from parliament," Jharkhand BJP president Rabindra Rai told reporters.

Three stages have been constructed for the rally - while Modi will speak from one, the other two will seat leaders of the party.

A security official said barricades will be erected 65 feet from the stage, to ensure Modi's security.

Heavy security arrangements are in place for the rally, to be held on the grounds of Prabhat Tara School. Modi will arrive near the venue in a helicopter from the Birsa Munda airport. He will also return by the chopper.

A Gujarat Police team is already in Ranchi to review security arrangements. The grounds will be monitored with CCTVs.

Eight bombs went off Oct 27 just ahead of a rally Modi addressed in Bihar capital Patna, leaving six dead.

Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Bhim Sen Tuti said: "Adequate security arrangements have been made for the Modi rally. People will reach the ground only after going through a security check, with metal detectors. We are regularly reviewing security."
