Two Indians battling for life after crash in Oman


Muscat, Jan 5 (IANS): Two Indian women, who were injured in a road accident that claimed three lives, are still battling for life in a hospital in Oman.

Three people were killed and six others were injured in the tragic accident Thursday near Samad Al Shams in Ibra, the second largest city in the Ash Sharqiyah region of Oman and 140 km away from Mascat, the Times Of Oman reported Sunday.

All the victims are from the Indian state of Kerala.

The accident occurred when Sunil Kumar Tharol and his family members were travelling in a four-wheel drive, along with their family friend, Deepu Nair, in Ibra region.

Those killed have been identified as two children of Sunil Kumar, Veda, 11, and Vaibhav, three, and a son of Deepu's brother Gopu Nair, whose age is not mentioned in the report.

The wives of Sunil and Gopu, Sreeja and Adhu respectively, are battling for their lives in the hospital.

Of the nine passengers in the vehicle, three were killed and the other six sustained injuries.

Gopu Nair had come from London to visit Deepu, who stays in Oman. Details of how the accident occurred were not available yet.
