Mumbai, May 8: In recognition his contribution to the society and business sector, entrepreneur and social worker Ramanna B Devadiga has been appointed special executive officer (SEO) by the government of Maharashtra.

Devadiga is a hotel entrepreneur and industrialist in Chembur here.

Special executive officers (formerly special executive magistrates - SEMs) are posts of public status with limited powers to liaise with goverment agencies and arms at the local level.

Hailing from Tokur near Halaeangadi in Mangalore district, Devadiga is an alumnus of Govindadas College, Suratkal.
