Chaos at 'janta darbar', Kejriwal leaves mid-way

New Delhi, Jan 11 (PTI): Chaos prevailed at the first 'janta darbar' organised by the AAP government outside the Delhi Secretariat today, forcing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to leave the venue mid-way as thousands gathered to register their grievances.

A huge crowd thronged the venue where the Chief Minister and his entire Cabinet sat to resolve the problems of the people.

Delhi Police and Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel had a tough time managing the crowd as barricades at some places were broken down by the people.

The swelling crowd at the meet forced Kejriwal to leave the meeting half way through.

"We had not even imagined that so many people will turn out today. It was becoming difficult to manage them...If I had not left the venue, there was a possibility of a stampede," Kejriwal told reporters.

Police estimated that 50,000 people had gathered in front of the secretariat. The crowd mostly comprised contractual workers from various government departments like DTC, power company BSES, different government hospitals, municipal corporations, among others demanding permanent status.

Sunita Kapoor from Mandawali in east Delhi reached the secretariat at 6 AM for the meeting that was to start at 9:30 AM. She met Kejriwal and complained about unauthorised occupation of her flat.

"I have been assured by the Chief Minister that I will be helped in the matter," she said.

The complainants, who me the Chief Minister or the Cabinet ministers, were issued a receipt about their complaints.

Officials of various government departments as well as of DDA, municipal corporations and police were also present at the meeting.

The entire stretch of road that goes from ITO towards Rajghat was closed and barricades put up on the divider so that people can sit on one side of the road.

The Chief Minister had earlier announced that the entire cabinet will sit in front of the Delhi Secretariat on Saturdays to receive grievances from people and efforts will be made to solve them immediately. On weekdays, one minister will receive grievances from the public.

"Public grievance is another major issue. It is a major issue for any government. It is the duty of every government to resolve those grievances. Public grievance is just a symptom, the disease lies somewhere else," said Kejriwal.

Grievances will be segregated into five categories depending upon their urgencies.
"The urgent cases related to school admission or admission to a hospital will be resolved on the spot. In the next category, ministers will mention the time frame to resolve the grievance.

"Those related to policy matters will require time. They will be forwarded to the respective ministers for their considerations, he had said.

The next category will be for taking suggestions from the public. A team will be formed to look into them and regularly put up best of the suggestions to the Chief Minister. Another is miscellaneous category and the last is for those which are not related to the government, he had said.

Kejriwal had said that unlike previous governments, he will not go by the compliance reports filed by the officials but will ensure that the complainant is absolutely satisfied.

Mr. Kejriwal is definitely a PM candidate after 10-15 years. He should hurry for doing everything. It is a vast country and should have a concrete plan. It should come from a systemic administration and man management. Everything we cannot do in public.
One should learn from Mr. Modi, Mr. Raman Singh & Mr. Shivraj Singh Chauhan. People are not voting them without any reason.

Jatin, as Grashon mentioned with the amount of security Modi has, one can act like a hero. One has to be a brave man to face 50000 men with grievances to resolve. Dont fall for Modi's rhetoric! Modi's true face will be seen only if he becomes prime minister!!??.
Give Kejriwal a break otherwise we will be taken for a ride whether its Rahul or Modi.

Dear Joseph, when namo rally was held in patna , namo and BJP leaders didnt run away after showing his face for a minute like kejriwal!
the BJP leaders prevented a stampede situation by diverting the attention of the crowd by saying tyre puncture and its was man management at the highest level..

the reason why cnn ibn, ndtv, times now, and all English channels are over the T-AAP is bcoz they know all AAP voters of delhi will vote for BJP and especially narendra modi for Lok Sabha elections..

hence they want to stop that public perception to help the congress.

pls understand, voting for AAP is akin to voting for congress and giving the power to congress.

be wise and vote for bjp bcoz only empowered BJP has the roadmap to progress , harmony and peace.

He only wants complaints and to show he is taking complaints. how will he act if he doesn't trust the bureaucracy... that is his problem... he doesn't know how to get work done from the bureaucracy. After all, he has barely served after becoming IAS and joined politics after he was unable to get anything done.If the same kind of nautanki continues, the very people who voted Kejriwala to power, will throw him onto the roads.Real and meaningful reforms to the administrative machinery require hard work & innovative bright ideas. But then everything Kejriwal has done till now suggests that he is not interested in genuine change, only easy quick fixes. He should have focused on developing Delhi as a model state and building some credibility for AAP.Aam aadmi-kejriwal fearing from stampede of aam aadmi fled, but brave modi didn't even worry in spite of bomb blasts-in fact he spoke extempore. That's a real man!!!

We need a man with concrete personna and concrete vision-not any nuataankibaaz who does cheap publicity stunts

Hi Jatin, i agree with you if Mr Modi travels like AAP without Security. Modi has 1000 top grade security personnel to take care, 50 Scorpio jeep, and the venue is occupied more than one month in advance, after having so much security anyone will walk like a great hearo.Any KJ has to do some reforms in delhi, else no use of AAP!!

As a CM of small state like Delhi, Kejriwal had to leave mid way. Just imagine what would be the situation if he becomes PM of India?

Today onwards he will not think of contesting for LS Election.

Aravind Kejriwal Lacks experience politics. The crowds chaos/news is one of his newest experience. All looks white is not milk. All the citizens have complaints and grievances. The government is unable to solve all complaints and grievances of the citizens.

CITIZENS ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE IN NATION BUILDING WHEREAS IN INDIA EVERYTHING IS CITIZENS SELFISHNESS.

    Abdul Rafiq...
One more 'Godse' is in making..!!
That's the reason not opting to have security..
Kejriwal only needs popularity...even after death as like Mahatma Gandhi..!!
To become like 'Gandhi' needs to take birth hundred times..!!
Preaching is easy..to act, it's difficulty...
Let him start from his home itself..
As compared to other's Modiji belonged to the poor family..
People from other countries do not need a ' clean personality ' like Modiji to rule India...
Reason behind India will once again regain it's lost glory of past..in all spheres..
More of funds pour-in from other countries for said purposes..AAP also belongs to such group.

These cars, rush and confusion you can find in most of the states while concerned C.M's conduct Janata Darshan dealing with the public grievances.Problems are more and complaints need to be tackled in a systematic way wherein complaints to be received in designated counters against receipt and give them dates to visit again for discussion. Then only you can control the mob and also deal with complaints systematically. All the best.Thanq.
