Bangkok, Jan 15 (IANS): The residence of Thai Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva in Bangkok sustained a bomb attack Tuesday night, local media reported Wednesday.
Police reportedly identified the bomb as big firecrackers, which caused damage to the residence. However, no one was injured as Abhisit and his family were not inside the house at the time of attack, Xinhua reported citing the Nation newspaper.
A woman and three men were later arrested by the police on suspicion of conducting the attack, but they were released for lack of evidence.
The Bangkok shutdown operation, launched by protesters to force the caretaker government to step down, entered its third day Wednesday.
The government is currently holding a meeting to discuss whether to postpone the Feb 2 general election, yet in the absence of representatives from the Democrat Party and anti- government People's Democratic Reform Committee.
