Mumbai, Jan 15: The relocated Borivali (West) branch of Model Co-operative Bank Limited was inaugurated here on Sunday January 12 morning.

The Borivali (West) branch was shifted to spacious premises at Jayasri Akshaya Building, IV Cross, I C Colony, here.

The Bank chairman Pangala Albert W D’Souza presided the simple function, while Our Lady of Immaculate Conception (I.C) parish priest Fr Barthol Baretto blessed the premises.

The local MLA Vinod Gosalkar inaugurated the newly-relocated branch on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Gosalkar said that the financial sector has seen rapid changes in the globalization era.  No amount of incorporating technological advances makes it difficult to fool-proof financial sector.  At the existing situation wherein the nationalized banks compete with international banks; the co-operative banks are striving to fulfill the banking needs of common man.  Model Bank with its 12 branches has set a model in metro, said MLA Gosalkar.   He also hoped the Bank doubles its branches in its near future.

The Bank former vice presidents and directors Vincent Mathias and Professor A.P.D’Souza, directors Prem Aranha, Lazarus Menezes, Paul Nazareth, Philip Into, Sanjay Shinde, Abraham Clement Lobo and Benedicta B. Rebello, former chief manager Frank Lewis, Christ the King parish priest Fr Vijay Drego, St. Francis Institute of Technology director Bro Melceor Tom, St Francis Management Institute director Fr S Alphonse, entrepreneur K V R Unni, Brian Saldanha, Rajan M Patal, customers department assistant commissioner Nancy Fernandes, Canara Konkani Association president George D’Souza, Noel Aranha, Rafael Castelino and others were present on the occasion.

The Bank CEO Francis Vaz, additional general manager William D’Souza were also present.

The branch manager Anil Menezes welcomed the gathering.  Edward Rasquinha compered the programme.  The assistant branch manager Gracy Rodrigues proposed vote of thanks.
