Indian held at Kathmandu airport


Kathmandu, Jan 15 (IANS): An Indian national was detained at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for possessing six kg of gold and a huge amount of United Arab Emirates currency.

Mohammad Sanud, 22, from the south Indian state of Kerala who landed in Nepal's capital Kathmandu by a Flydubai flight Tuesday, was held for illegally bringing six gold bars and 15,500 dirhams (around $4200) during a security screening at the TIA check-point at around 10 p.m., media reported Wednesday.

The six gold bars were found stashed inside a belt used to ease back pain that he was wearing.
