Custody extended for suspected Lashkar men


New Delhi, Jan 21 (IANS): A court here Tuesday extended the judicial custody of two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives till Feb 4.

Additional Sessions Judge Daya Prakash had earlier remanded Mohammad Rashid and Mohammad Shahid to 14 days judicial custody till Tuesday.

Rashid was arrested from Nuh sub-division of Haryana's Mewat district Dec 16.

His name surfaced during police interrogation of Mohammad Shahid, another LeT suspect arrested by Delhi Police Dec 7 from Chhoti Mewli village in the same district. Both were imams at a village mosque.

During investigation, it was revealed that the duo were in touch with Pakistan-based LeT commander Javed Baluchi over phone.

Police have booked them under various charges dealing with criminal conspiracy and terrorism.
