Kumar Vishwas sorry for remarks against Kerala nurses

Kochi, Jan 22 (PTI): Aam Admi Party (AAP) Executive Member Kumar Vishwas, whose alleged derogatory remarks against Kerala nurses sparked a controversy, today tendered an apology, saying it was never his intention to hurt the feelings of any one.

In a statement sent to the AAP's Kerala unit, he said he had never tried to 'intentionally hurt the sentiments of anyone'.

"It has come to my knowledge that an old video-clip of one of my Kavi-Sammelan has hurt the feelings of many of my friends residing in Kerala. I must say that I don't appreciate any discrimination based on religion, region, gender, caste or creed. I never tried to intentionally hurt the sentiments of anyone", he stated.

Viswas said jokes delivered in a kavi-sammelan are scripted and presented in a jocular and lighthearted manner without an intention to harm anybody's feelings. "But if some words of mine have hurt the sentiments of my friends, I apologise to them from depth of my heart", he said.

Yesterday, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had demanded an apology from the APP leader for his remarks.

In a letter to AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Chandy had wanted him to prevail upon Vishwas to withdraw the remarks and tender an apology.

"It is most unfortunate that the Aam Aadmi Party is tightlipped regarding the derogatory remarks on Malayalee nurses," he had said.

The comments of Vishwas against Malayali nurses made in a speech at Ranchi in 2008, uploaded in a social networking site recently, had sparked strong protests across the state, with Youth Congress workers ransacking AAP's office here on January 20.

AAP Kerala unit spokesperson K P Rateesh also apologised to the people of the state for the remarks. 'AAP has the highest respect for Malayali nurses', he said.

There is not point in making an issue. Its just to stop AAP's popularity. He made these jokes as a performer not as a politician, hence he shouldn't apologize as a politician!

Jealousy among Poets is very common everywhere. Some poet friend of Vishvas must have done this purely out of professional rivalry.
Just like "Poetic Justice" we also have 'Poetic Jealousy'.

Yes Rion, your AAP already started to show the cruelty. Beginning with attacking on women by law minister. He needs her urine sample and she should be urinate in public in front of everybody. This is the height of cruelty. AAP activists beaten the police and made them injurious. AAP's real face is exposed now. Don't think others also Gandhis in this era, there will be reaction for every action. If Kejriwal continued his third class & childish attitude, civil war will be going to start in all over the country. It is better to sideline this poison before the thing going to out of control. AAP people think everybody is corrupt in this country except them. Corruption and not danger, but Kejriwal is very dangerous for the country.

YouTube video is of 2008 when Kumar Vishwas was just a Hindi poet and not affiliated to any political party. In fact AAP party was not at all existing in 2008. So, whatever spoken by Vishwas in Ranchi in some Hasya Kavi Sammelan is not applicable to AAP at all.
The Congress or BJP person who has uploaded this six year old video now, is the real culprit who should be punished and not Vishwas. .

Bollywood people and Hindi TV people are the biggest villains. They always show South Indians as very dark, ugly, stout, short, with a flat nose. And most of the ordinary people of north India even today think that is the real feature of almost all south Indians. You can see comedy shows on any TV where they show a south Indian as a very funny character like a buffoon and always saying Ayyoyyo.

Idiots of Hindi TV programs think that all Keralites are fit only for selling tender coconuts. Everywhere these Hindi TV/Filmy people insult south Indians. Dear all, He has tendered apology from the depth of his heart for his comments of 2008. The Chief Minister of Kerala demanded an apology, Kumar Vishwas has given it. He has not told that he is been misquoted, misunderstood, etc. Are we so heartless not to forgive him? However, all should be careful not to hurt anyone's feelings. It is high time that we stopped Sardarji jokes, Tamil accent in Hindi movies, Villains wearing crosses in movies, etc. to name a few of the things that can be avoided. Let us be Indians first and treat each other as Indians.

I have seen different types of political parties in India. Some parties communal, some secular, some social, etc. etc. But AAP is a controversial party with childish minded leaders and too much ego problem. All their leaders are fit to become Auto union leader or Street vendor's leader only. Kejriwal thinking except him and his followers, others all corrupt. But Kejriwal should understand, moral policing, attacking women and insulting the people is more dangerous than the corruption.

I really do not like this type of issues being raised unnecessarily. If one has ever attended a comedy show, comedy, drama, comedy speeches, etc. or has seen on tv such programs we can see plenty of comedy making fun of different types of people, situations etc. It has to be taken lightly. Now if you start digging old comedy show videos of Vishwas one by one and try to pick out such issues one by one it may be never ending. It is totally mindless to do that. Imagine tomorrow if Kapil sharma becomes politician, we can find such things plenty in his comedy talks. Ridiculous!!! Senseless issues and humorless people are those who believe on such issues and create halla gullaa.
