Congress rules out Tharoor's resignation

New Delhi, Jan 22 (IANS): The Congress Wednesday ruled out any possibility of union minister Shashi Tharoor resigning from the government in wake of the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.

"There is no charge against (him) of any nature and nobody is alleging any role of Shashi Tharoor. Why should he resign?" said party spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala.

"There is no charge levelled by any political party or organisation or activist," he added.

Sunanda Pushkar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her room at the Leela Palace hotel here Jan 17. A report by the sub-divisional magistrate, who is probing her death, said she died of poisoning.

The investigations are incomplete and would continue.
