Kuwait, May 16: Kuwait Kannada Koota (KKK) started its year long celebrations of Suvarna Mahotsava (Golden Jubilee year) of Karnataka with all pomp and gaiety at Indian School, Khaitan on Friday Ma 12. The Program started with inter-school quiz competitions followed by inter-school folk dance and patriotic singing competitions. Prakash Subba Rao was specially flown in from Bangalore to conduct the inter-school quiz competitions. The children of various schools participated in all competitions with enthusiasm.
After the inter-school competitions, the KKK members presented a colorful and exciting tableau of Karnataka Folk dances that won the hearts of every one in the audience.
The function was inaugurated by Indian ambassador to Kuwait, M Ganapathy lighting the traditional lamp along with his wife Uma Ganapathy to herald the year long celebrations of Suvarna Mahotsava of Karnataka. Dr Vivek Wani, president of KKK welcomed the gathering. Speaking on the occasion M Ganapathy lauded the achievements made by people of Karnataka especially in the field of IT which has made the garden city of Bangalore as the IT capital of India.
He presented the Championship Trophy to the participants of winning schools in various competitions. In inter-school quiz competition Fahaheel Al-Watanieh, Indian Pvt. School (DPS) won the champions trophy while India International School, Mangaf were the runners up. The interschool patriotic group singing was won by Indian Community School, Amman Branch while runners up were Carmel School, Khaitan. Interschool folk dance competition was won by Integrated Indian School, Jleeb while Carmel School, Khaitan was runners up.
Sponsors of the program Kuldip Singh Lamba of Abdul Hadi Almailem Co. and Juzair Ali Hussain of Wadi Sakeef Trading Co. spoke on this occasion and lauded the efforts of KKK to have such a colorful and meticulously organized inaugural function of Suvarna Mahotsava of Karnataka. The Kuwait Kannada Koota presented mementoes to sponsors of the event Kuldip Sing Lamba and Juzair Ali Hussain.
Sajid Khan, sponsor and supporter of KKK activities was also facilitated on the occasion. Dr Diwakar proposed vote of thanks. The executive committee comprising Dr Wani, Dr Surendra Nayak, Dr Diwakar and Sudhir Shenoy took this opportunity to thank all the sponsors, principals and teachers of participating schools and all others for taking strenuous efforts to make the inaugural celebrations colorful and memorable.
