Modi, Mulayam colluding to prevent Congress victory: Beni Prasad

Lucknow, Jan 25 (IANS): Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi have struck a deal in their bid to stop the Congress from winning, Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma said Saturday.

"Is it not a coincidence that both leaders are holding rallies at the same time, at the same venues, one after another?" he asked.

Verma also told reporters that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary and Modi aide Amit Shah was writing the speeches of both leaders.

He said the two parties had "ganged up" for a long time now, referring to the clean chit given by the Samajwadi Party government a few years back to BJP leader L.K. Advani in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

Verma said the two parties had helped each other on many other occasions but predicted that the Samajwadi Party supremo will lose his Mainpuri parliamentary seat this time.

Verma, a former Samajwadi Party member, said Muslims, people from backward classes and even Brahmins have now understood that the promises and assurances of Yadav were false and hollow.

"What his sweet tongue doles out for Muslims and Brahmins will no longer bear electoral fruit as everyone has understood how fake he is," Verma said.

Apologising to supporters for his earlier association with the Samajwadi Party leader, Verma said that by working for the success of Congress he will atone for his 'sin'.
