Mumbai, Jan 28: Billava Bhavan, Mumbai, celebrated Republic day at their head office at Billava Bhavan, Santacruz east on January 26.
Billawa Association president L V Ameen received salute from Seva Dal members and hoisted the national flag.
Chief guest Kadri Navaneet, executive of Namma Kudla who had arrived from Mangalore addressed the gathering and said that the day is for remembering our history and those who sacrificed their lives for independence. The three colors in our flag have special meanings. The national flag depicts unity in diversity. The Seva Dal has the responsibility of protecting the society like the military which protects the country.
Another guest, Namma Kudla director Leelaksha Karkera spoke and said that they have come to Mumbai unexpectedly and Jaya C Suvarna took them to Billava Bhavan and given them an opportunity to participate in Republic day celebrations. We are grateful to him for it. He recollected the hardship faced by Jaya C Suvarna and team to build the building.
Jaya C Suvarna, honorary president of Billawa association spoke and said that we should be sincere in our day to day affairs to spread sincerity in our society and the country. He added that disciplined activities of the Seva Dal have spread reputation of the Seva Dal, praising the Seva dal members.
Association president L V Ameen who presided over the programme, said that we should inform the importance of Republic day to the youth and provoke patriotism in them.
Gurunarayana night school students sang patriotic songs in the beginning of the programme. Sevadal executive president Shanker D Poojary welcomed the guests and the members.
Congress leader Shanker Suvarna, Association vice president Nityananda D Kotian and Seva Dal’s Dinesh Poojary spoke on the occasion. Treasurer Bhasker V Bangera, Women’s wing president Shakuntala K Kotian were present.
Jyothi K suvarna, honorary chief secretary of the association gave a key note address and compered the programme. Seva Dal G. O. C. Ganesh K Poojary proposed a vote of thanks.
