Mumbai: Four bestowed 'Permeda Tuluver' title at 'Bombayd Tuluver' event

Mumbai, Jan 28: Kala Sampada Mumbai in association with Akhila Bharat Tulu Okkuta hosted a grand 'Bombayd Tuluver – 2014' at Radhabai T Bhandary auditorium of Bunts Bhavan, Kurla (East) here on Sunday January 26.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest K D Shetty, managing director of Mumbai-based Bhavani Shipping Services, said, "This programme is indeed helpful in preserving the Tulunadu culture and the audience have commended it with a standing ovation. The cultural programme has brought to fore the love for traditional practices," said Mumbai-based Bhavani Shipping Services Private Limited managing director K D Shetty.
"Such programmes are indeed instrumental in creating interest among the new generation about our native culture. If these programmes are conducted regularly, the new generation will realize the significance of native culture and shun western culture," he added.
S N Udupa, chief priest of Umamaheshwari temple, Jerimeri inaugurated ‘Tuluver Sambrama,’ while renowned Vastu expert Ashok Purohit officially launched the celebration in a traditional manner by mounting a plough.
Renowned hotelier Raghu P Shetty, Akhila Bharat Tulu Okkuta president Dharmapal U Devadiga, Tulu Koota Dombivali president Arun Shetty, Tulu Sangh Borivali vice president Petemane Prakash Shetty, Tulunada Samaja Mira – Bhayandar preisdnet Dr Raviraj Suvarna, Tulu Koota Iroli president Jagdish Shetty Nadajeguttu, Tulunada Manikya Sangh president Nityanand M Shetty, Seva Sangh Jerimeri president Ravi Mendon Kurkal and othes were the chief guests.
Akhila Bharat Tulu Okkuta president Dharmapal U Devadiga presided the programme.
Mangalore-Times of India circulation manager Kadri Navaneet Shetty, Gujarat entrepreneur R K Nair Umergaon, Kannadiga Kalavidara Parishat Maharashtra president Surendra Kumar Hegde, Mathrabhoomi Credit Society director Uma Krishna Shetty and others were the guests of honour.
‘Permeda Tuluver,’ title was conferred on Karnataka Tulunad Sangh Sangli – Miraj president Divakar Shetty, Shiva’s Hair Designers Private Limited chairman Attur Shivaram K Bhandary, Tulu – Tamil movie actor Ashrita Shetty and Daijiworld Media Private Limited managing director Walter Nandalike (Praveen Tauro recieved the honour on his behalf). Kala Sampada Mumbai president Karnoor Mohan Rai introduced the award recipients.
Speaking on the occasion, K D Shetty said that Karnoor Mohan Rai and his late father Karnoor Koragappa Rai are the true activists who enriched Tulu theater in metro. They contributed their might in sustaining Tulu.
Bantara Sangha Mumbai president chartered accountant Shankar B Shetty felicitated distinguished personalities for their extraordinary contributions in their respective spheres: B S Kurkal (education – literature), Jayanti Bangera Moodbidri (Tulu literature), K M Kotian (social service), Jayakar D Poojary (Tulu research), Shyam Shetty (Yakshagana), Ashok Kodyadka (folk art) on the same occasion. They were introduced by veteran litterateur Dr Sunita M Shetty.
Karnoor Mohan Rai welcomed the gathering. Journalist Dayasagar Chowta, Padmanabha Sasihitlu and Ashok Pakkala compered the programme. G T Acharya proposed the vote of thanks.
Several theater troupes presented a variety of Tulu plays as part of the entertainment programme. Ashok Polali presented a rooster dance depicting Tulunadu culture. Kadri Navaneet Shetty conducted a quiz and presented prizes to the winners.
