Mumbai, Feb 1: “I did not know that there are such a large number of Tulu Kannadigas in Uran.  I had thought that only Maharashtrians are staying here but I am glad to know that there is a Tulu Kanndigas social association here. It is laudable that the associations are indulging in social service activities together regardless of our religion, caste or creed.  Besides that, you have maintained the language, art and culture of the home town and made it grow and been an example to others, which is praiseworthy,” said CBD Bhaskar Shetty, president of Belapur Nithyananda Seva Sangha.

He was speaking as a chief guest on the fifth anniversary of Kannada social association of Uran held at Rajeev Gandhi town hall on Sunday evening on January 26.

Charusheela Pandit of Uran Municipal Corporation was present at guest of honor.  He said that it is appreciable that we identify the talents of children and encourage them in the name of culture.  May our organization improve, he said.

Dr Chandrashekar said that it is gratifying to see that we unite even after coming out from our home town.  It is necessary to make our groups grow, he said.

Ashok Shetty, honorary president of the sangha said our association should grow and let us join hands to make our association a model association in between the Maratis, he said.

Newly appointed president said that it is not important to start an association but leading it is essential.  Every Kannadiga living in Uran area should come forward and strengthen the association, he said.

Newly appointed president of women’s wing Ashrith Chaya said that she is at the dais due to the cooperation of Kannadigas.  We should work hard for the progress and social work in it, she said.
