Mumbai, Feb 5: The women’s wing of Bhandari Seva Samithi held annual Arasina Kumkuma programme for the year 2014 at Dombivli east’s Hotel Surabhi on Sunday evening February 2. The programme was held under the guidance of Samithi president Balakrishna Puttur (Pune).
Social worker Geetha Seetharama Bhandari of Delhi had arrived as chief guest. Shobha Suresh Kadandale and Rekha Padmanabha Bhandari were guests of honor. They lighted the traditional lamp and set the programme in motion.
“There is lack of unity among able women and programme such as Arasina Kumkuma is an example to fill them with inspiration. This is a forum for displaying religious beliefs, social and cultural teachings and towards unity of women folk. It is necessary for women to participate in programmes such as this to strengthen their independence”, said Geetha Bhandary.
Lalitha Vishwanath Bhandari, executive president of Bhandari Seva Samithi women’s wing, said that when we pray to Sri Kachuru Nageshwara diety and hold religious programmes, they increase our belief on morals. It is gratifying to see large number of women participating in the programme, she said.
Vice president Tara R Rao, introduced the guests. Secretary Vanitha S Bhandari gave an introduction of the programme, and felicitated the guests with flower bouquets. Sarita Bangera introduced the guests, compered the programme and proposed a vote of thanks.
