Abu Dhabi, Feb 9: Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, one of the leading associations of Kannadigas in the capital city of UAE held its annual 'Winter Picnic' at Al Watba Park, Al Ain Road here on Friday February 7.
Cool weather added energy and set the right mood for the picnic. Buses carried Kannadigas to Al Watba Park where the picnic began with delicious breakfast bringing back memories of hometown.
Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha President and recipient of Karnataka Rajyotsava Award Sarvotham Shetty welcomed the picnic crowd and announced various activities of the day. The crowd was divided into eight groups named after colours.

Varieties of games like passing the ball, rope vest, dog and bone, dodge ball, advertisement game, Kannada song and dance, mimicry, weighing watermelon, guessing chocolates, measuring the rope, bingo and queen’s demand kept the gathering engaged throughout the day. Each and every one took active participation in the games.
A Kannada quiz prepared by Mangala Shetty was an excellent effort to remind Kannadigas of their rich heritage, literature, history and unforgettable achievements of people of yesteryear. Games were also conducted for children.
The advertisement game was quite thrilling and challenging with lots of imagination. This event brought out the hidden talents of the crowd. Peppy music made the event complete. The popular game 'queen's demand' was enjoyed by everybody. Games were conducted by Sarvotham Shetty along with the assistance of the managing committee members. A delicious lunch prepared on the spot was served to all.
A surprise awaited Sarvotham Shetty and his wife who were honoured on the occasion of their 30th wedding anniversary by Karnataka Sangha team members. The couple thanked the committee members and the gathering for the honour.
Senior members of the committee and guests were present and 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were handed over to the winners at the end. All in all, the picnic was enjoyed by the huge crowd and every moment was memorable. All credit goes to the dynamic leader Sarvotham Shetty and his team.
Managing committee members who organized the various requirements were Pradeep Kirodian, Sudhir Shetty, Altaf M S, Yogish Prabhu, Umesh Rao, Praveen Rao, Loyolla Pinto, Syed Siraj Ahmed, Vijay Rao, Chetana Prabhu and Mangala Shetty.
Food was provided by Maharaja Restaurant of Ramee Group of Hotels.
Prizes were donated by Jayram Rai, group finance manager of Bin Fardan Group.
Judges for the various events were Noel Fernandes, Manmohan Rai, Jayram Rai and Thomas Muller.
At the end Sarvotham Shetty whole heratedly thanked everyone for their participation and cooperation.
