Mumbai, May 23: A gangster was on Tuesday killed in a shootout with police at suburban Kandivali, police sources said.
Sunil Sudharkar Mirghad, who was killed in the shootout, was wanted in several cases of robbery since last five years.
On a tip-off, unit 11 of crime branch police laid a trap for Sunil at Kamla Vihar sports club in Kandivali Poisar locality at about 2.45 p.m.
Spotting the gangster, the police team asked him to surrender but instead he fired at the policemen, who retaliated killing him on the spot, the sources said.
He was taken to Rajawadi hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Sunil was formerly with Arun Gawli gang but later switched his loyalty to underworld don Chhota Rajan gang, police sources adding he was wanted in a number of criminal cases mainly pertaining to robbery.
