Pre-poll survey : NDA to get 227 seats, Congress all-time low of 84

New Delhi, Feb 13 (Agencies) : BJP-led NDA is projected to get 227 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, while Congress will be reduced to 84 seats, according to an opinion poll.

The survey, conducted by India TV, Times Now and CVoter, also projects a worst-ever performance by Congress-led UPA, better show by regional parties like YSR Congress, Trinamool Congress and AIADMK and emergence of Aam Aadmi Party.

According to the projection, BJP alone will get 202 seats out of a total 543 Lok Sabha seats. The Congress is projected to get only 84 seats--117 less than 2009 seat position in the Lower House.

While the poll projects 217-237 Lok Sabha seats to BJP-led NDA, it gives only 91-111 seats to Congress-led UPA.

Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party is projected to get 7 seats in its maiden electoral battle.

The survey shows Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress getting 24 Lok Sabha seats-five more than the 2009 position.

Jayalalithaa's AIADMK is projected to be emerged as the top non-UPA, non-NDA party with 27 seats. The party's current strength in the Lok Sabha is 9.

Left Front is also projected to improve its position from present 24 seats to 27 seats.

The poll says Samajwadi Party is projected to get 20 seats--three less than the current strength in the Lower House.

Mayawati's BSP is projected to retain its 2009 strength-- 21 seats--in the 16th Lok Sabha. The survey gives 13 seats to YSR Congress headed by Jaganmohan Reddy.

The possible Third alternative consisting of 16 parties including Left Front and AIADMK is projected to get 128 seats.

The possible Fourth Front consisting of 15 regional forces including Trinamool Congress, BSP, TRS and YSR Congress is projected to get 87 Lok Sabha seats.

According to a release, the Cvoter study based on national representative sample of 14142 randomly selected respondents across all 28 states, during January 15 to February 8, this year.

    Mr.Rosario,

Your last sentence expressing concern on possibly hurting some one's feeling reflects humility. Nice of you.

But as citizens looking forward to better governance why should we prejudge Mr.Modi?

Many a mangaloreans ire on BJP is understandable considering the way they messed up a golden opportunity given to them in Karnataka. But it is not the case of at least three major BJP ruled states viz., Gujarat, MP & Chattisgarh. Gujarat & MP elected BJP thrice! Modi has become darling of Gujarathis...I had personal feedback from many of colleague from Gujarat. Surely people will not elect again & again unless they see something good.

It is possible that all our expectations on Modi may go wrong, but against his track record the chances are remote. See the other options.. Surely we cannot imagine the Kinder Garden leader to be our PM. Kejriwal couldn't manage Delhi (please don't give excuses that AAP didn't had a majority...which will be the case of any part in Loksabha elections too) & resigned within 49 days. The less we talk is better of Third front with leaders like Mulayam, Maya, Jaya, Mamta, Nitesh looking at different directions & form opportunistic

As of now Modi is best bet for us at this point of time. As you rightly say & as per several projections this looks like certain.

Let's hope for best & look forward to development, better employment & all round progress & end of vote bank politics.

BJP AND ITS SUPPORTERS ARE JUST BLAH, BLAH,BLAH...

THEIR LEADER MODI IS A MURDERER AND COMMUNAL.

After Modi becomes PM its likely communal riots will increase .Fanatic hindu communal groups will get a distinct advantage and the upper hand. Modi Has not made clear his stand on minorities. On the other hand, his opponent party is completely naked with nothing left to offer. Where does the common man go and who shall he vote? A question has no answer at the moment. A new force has to emerge sooner or later. At the moment, nothing of that sort is seen around

Whether bjp or congress rules next period do you mean that India will develop. All say Gujarat is developed state. When Modi became Gujarat Chief Minister for the first time, the state had a loan burden of Rs 46,000 crore, but today it has risen to Rs 1.72 lakh crore, which means each and every individual in the state is indebted by a loan burden of Rs 26,000(and Maharashtra has 2.80 lakh crore loan burden even Karnataka has same). Then i think our nation having the loan burden double of this. So do you think that it’s a result of developing...? By keeping loan burden on each citizen. The day will come our political leader will sell our land to foreigners to repay the loan. Congress or BJP has the same agenda to loot the country. Today India is developing country, not because of political party it’s because of each citizen of India. So let’s stop to praise on leaders, it’s a waste of time and plan to save our nation from looters, corrupted leaders.

However, there is an emergence of Third and Fourth fronts, whether we like or not.
Regional parties are gaining strength is a debacle for national parties and strong Govt. at center.
Weak Govt at the center will have its repercussions in national policy matters, like DMK opposed the center's policy on Sri Lanka.
Similarly, some parties might object center's policies on Pakistan and Bangladesh, Burma etc.
    Regionalism might grow.

The survey projection is more or less on the expected lines. This survey is pointing to a near-whitewash for UPA was a foregone conclusion, with its unprecedented scams and corruption during its incumbency. However, this survey being only a little superior to probability and random sample theories, to extrapolate based on the given statistics, may not necessarily be accurate.

It will be a very sad state of affairs for our country if we will have a government standing on a different set of props with varying ideologies. Rating agencies will downgrade our economic parameters and the end result will be disastrous.

Since NDA is not getting the majority, the government formation by them is doubtful since all non NDA parties, including Congress will join and form the government.Antiincumbency of 10 years as in Delhi is the only reason for Congress' poor show and not the Modi wave.Still, I am doubtful of this projection since BJP is spending heavy amount below the carpet to lure the media and misguide the public.Let us wait for the results once the polls are conducted. All the best.Thanq.

Surprised to see the numbers. Even after UPA doing so well for last 10 years under the Prime Minister, Madam Sonia Gandhi and getting so many seats is unbelievable.

The pre-poll survey is as expected, as India's overall progress from the last decade is far below many developing nations in the world. Therefore, Indians will keep the congress party out of power. I believe BJP alone will have 240 seats, as Mr Modi, PM candidate has been as a successful and progress orientated person. The party choose Mr Modi well ahead of polls and Mr Modi got lot of time to campaign. This change is good for India, especially the younger generation.

"Others" are projected to win more than NDA. Others may win around 230 seats and they can form Govt with the help of 84 MPs of Cong.

Why these surveys required??? What is the agenda behind these surveys?

1.Did they contacted each and every voter of India?
2.What is the benefit for the people from this survey?
3.If this survey decides everything, then the election should be stopped and let these paid channels decide the prime minister.

These surveys should be stopped and these channels financial transactions should be closely monitored.

Dinesh Poojary, Kundapura/Bengaluru, as long as the survey is favour to our party, then survey is correct. If not, it is paid survey or what is the need of survey!!!!!!

It's simple to understand man. Have they contacted you or your friends? They have not contacted my friends who are in India. I am sure they have not contacted any of the readers. Then how you believe it is correct.

Forget about party and think like a common man. What is the rational behind this survey?....

If we remove our communal mentality and think we will know these surveys are just paid by corporate people to benefit some parties from whom they got a big big promise.

    Remesh Saab,

Read my comments properly. I was not supporting any party.I was expressing my doubt about the authenticity of this survey. I am repeating again..

These types of surveys which favors any party should be banned and these channels financial transactions should be monitored.

To understand my comments better we should remove communal glass from our eyes and read.

Dear Haris: Its random enquiry, no need to reach each voters individually. All sections of people covered, eg. Businessmen, Industrials, Students, Labors, Teachers, Housewives etc.etc.
Secondly, there are people who stick to 'ONE' party forever. It is necessary, we must have such polls to verify/check reality and public opinion.
    The difference between 2009 & 2014
only prove how education has played
its role. I doubt Congress even get
    even 84 seats.
AAP will get actually double than projected.
