Madhva Navami celebrated at Gokula in Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb 16: Sri Madhva Pratistana started by astrologer R L Bhat couple, Mumbai celebrated Madhva Navami with the cooperation of BSKB Association and Goplakrishna Public Trust at Gokula in Sion east here recently. 

After the prayers in the morning, programmes such as Vayustiti Havana, Madhva Vijaya prayer and Ashlesha Bali were led by priest Vedamoorthi Ramachandra Bhat.  The programmes were managed by Vittala Kalluraya couple and Kalpana Rao couple.  They were followed by bhajans by Gokula Kalavrinda Bhajana Mandali and Vittala Bhajana Mandali, Mira road coupled by Saxophone music by Ramadas Kotian and party.  There was Theertha prasada and Anna Santarpane after it.

The afternoon's cultural programme consisted of a Yakshangana programme titled 'Paduka Pradhana' by Gokula's women folk, led by Geetha L Bhat and directed by Sheni Sham Bhat.  Laxmi Narayana Shetty, well known singer in the city sang in the background.  Madhusoodan Palan and Jagadish Shetty cooperated in musical instruments.  Geetha L Bhat, played the part of Rama, Shantilaxmi Udupa as Bharatha, Sahana Bharadwaj as Laxmana, Shailini Rao as Guha and Prema S Rao as Sumanthra.

Ramachandra Acharya, Mysore and party presented devotional music. Ramachandra sang devotional hymns and the devotees sang with him creating a devout atmosphere.  Madhava Aithal played violin and Keshava Joshi played Tabla. Nagarahalli Prahlada Acharya gave a sermon on Madva Siddanta.

The concluding programme consisted of Maha Mangalarathi to the diety and Sri Madhwacharya.  Theertha and prasada were distributed in the end.
