Panaji, June 7: The Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the setting up of the State Load Dispatch Centre and said that it will help the Electricity Department to efficiently handle the wheeling in and the distribution of electricity in the state.The GCCI also welcomed the proposal of Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde for setting up of two power plants, a GCCI press note observed.
It further stated that the two power plants will help the state to independently control the generation and distribution of power. At present, the state is dependent on the allocation from the centre and to the vagaries of the Western and Southern grids, the press note mentioned.
“The Chamber has always stressed the need for adequate infrastructure for the state to prosper. Power is one of the prime needs not only for the industry but for the quality of life. It is not the availability alone, but supply of quality and uninterrupted power that matters,” it said.
The Chamber has further congratulated Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane, Power Minister Digambar Kamat and chief electrical engineer Nirmal Braganza on their participation in the achievement.
