Very very sad news about the untimely death of greatly admired Yakshagana artist Sri Siddakatte Jinnappa Shetty. He is my most favoured artist of Yakshagana or Tale maddale.Though he is not that much proficient in Yakshagana dance art in a traditional way,he was managing with superb oratory skill. He was a fountain of knowledge, wisdom mixed with putting the words so nicely without hurting the opponent artist.I understand he studied only up to primary level but mastered the art of oratory tremendously. He was mostly acquainted with badaguthikku Yakshagana and mostly found in talamaddale programs in DK during rainy seasons and before commencement of regular tours. With his death, we lost a great Yakshagana artist of par excellence and will be fondly remembered long time.May Sree Kateehwari bestow eternal peace to the departed soul.
