Abrupt change in weather surprises people

Agra, March 24 (IANS): The abrupt change in weather over the past two days, with a few brief spells of rain and even hail storms in some areas here, has surprised people.

"Saturday was windy. Chilly breeze due to increased humidity and intermittent showers late Sunday night have came as a surprise. At this time, farmers are busy harvesting their crops," said Sudhir Gupta, Vijay Nagar colony resident.

According to the weather office, a western disturbance is responsible for the sudden change. The cloud cover would continue for a few more days. The temperature Saturday touched 34.1 degree Celsius but it came down Sunday to 32 degrees Celsius.

"We have just finished packing our woollen clothes. But schoolgoing kids and those appearing for examinations were seen wearing warm clothes Monday morning," said Padmini, a homemaker.

The weather at this point of time is extremely pleasant for the tourists, said Ved Gautam, a tourist guide.

"Nothing is alarming so far, but if the sky remained cloudy, there could be trouble for potato and mustard crops in the field," said Ravi Singh, a farmer from Barauli Aheer area.
