Udupi: Gas cylinder leak results in fire; catastrophe averted

Udupi, Mar 26: A gas cylinder caught fire due to a leak in the cylinder. This incident occurred at Gururaj Bhat’s house in Kemundallu near Panduranga Bhajana Mandir. It is said that the gas cylinder was connected two days ago. The alert locals prevented a major tragedy from occurring.

No one was hurt or injured in the incident.

This incident took place on Monday March 24 when family members were having breakfast. The gas which leaked out of the cylinder cap destroyed the kitchen, electric wires, fridge, door, wooden ceiling and utensils.     

Immediately, the members of Panduranga Bhajana Mandir rushed to the spot. Youth using more than a half lorry load of sand doused the fire. Padubidri police and Udupi fire service brigade rushed to the spot. Later, the fire service personnel pulled out the cylinder and doused the fire completely.
