Mangalore Mar 26: "Former minster and MLA Krishna Palemar is levelling false allegations against me and the Congress party and resorting to old tactics of spreading canards," said MLA Mangalore North Mohiuddin Bava on Wednesday March 26.

Bava in a press meet held at the Congress election office was responding to allegations of scam hurled by Palemar.

"Palemar has alleged that I have facilitated my relative, M G Hussain of Sharief constructions to get a road contract. But to Palemar’s information, Hussain was in the business much before I became the MLA. Tender was called ffor connection of the road and he (Hussain) got the contract by completing all the due processes," Bava said.

Responding to the allegations on work carried out during the Congress regime, Bava defended all the four ministers of the district and said they have made full efforts to develop the district. "Unlike BJP that was busy indulging in corrupt practices, Congress has been providing good governance in the state," he said.

Outling the development in his constituency Mangalore North, he said, "I have brought CM’s compensation fund of Rs 21 lac for health sector to provide medical aid to the needy. I have utilized the MLA fund for the betterment of my constituency. Even though the government was not able to release the said fund I have taken care to ensure that the ongoing works are not affected. Totally Rs 2 crore worth of work is in progress in the constituency," he added.

No hike in property tax

Suratkal block Congress president, Vijaykumar Shetty referring to the issue of property tax hike, alleged that the deputy commissioner had deliberately passed the order even as the election code of conduct was in force. The MLAs, J R Lobo and Mohiuddin Bava in urgency made the mistake of signing the order, he said.

He promised in the press meet that the tax would not be hiked. After the elections steps would be taken to reconsider the decision and stick to the assurance outlined in the manifesto, he said.

Kalllige Taranath Shetty alleged that in the CD released by the BJP detailing the achievements of Nalin Kumar Kateel as MP, students with uniform were wrongly shown. "This is a clear violation of election code of conduct and Congress will file a case against Nalin Kumar Kateel with the Election Commission," he said.
