Kuwait, Apr 8: GSB Sabha Kuwait, founded in 2003, successfully celebrated its eleventh annual program 'Konkani Pratibha 2014' at Indian Community school auditorium, Khaitan.
The event began with an introduction of the program by master of ceremony,Navin Prabhu, followed by invocation song by the ladies of Sabha.
This was followed by lighting of lamp by president Dr Surendra Nayak Kapadi, vice-president Anil Prabhu, secretary Srinivas M Prabhu, treasurer Ramananda Kamath, joint secretary Jagadeeshwar Shanubhogue, PRO Mohandas Kamath and members of advisory committee comprising of B Prakash Pai, Haridas Acharya and Rajaram Pai Kateel.
The cultural programme began with a grand invocation dance and a devotional song performed by Sabha children followed by the President’s speech, where he extended a warm welcome to the audience gathered in large number. Navin Prabhu enthralled the gathered audience with hilarious jokes and mimicry.
The main attraction of the event started with a performance by famous Hindustani classical singer Pandit Upendra Bhat; he sang some of the best known classical vocal, 'abhang' and 'dasavanis'. Panditji, who is a disciple of late Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, is an acclaimed classical vocalist reminded the audience of his legendary Guru. The crowd was totally captivated by energetic artists of Sabha with a superlative Konkani drama, written by late N B Kamath, Paddule Diet. The drama wasdirected and enacted by Sabha members which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.
A commemorative souvenir to mark the yearly event was released by Panditji. Souvenir included informative articles by Sabha members and children. Srinivas Prabhu proposed the vote of thanks. The event concluded with a grand traditional dinner arranged by Management Committee with the help of Sabha volunteers.
