Liberia: Good Friday observed at St Joseph parish

Media Release

Liberia, Apr 19: Good Friday was memorable day for the Parish of St Joseph's, Monrovia. The youth of the Parish once again staged the passion play.

This year was remarkable, because the youth were able to send a powerful message through their excellent presentation of this great moment in the history of mankind salvation.  The passion play was not restricted to the campus of the church and school but to the adjacent streets and to the public highway of the city of Monrovia.

Many bystanders who were non-Catholics must have bee wondering what these youth were trying to convey. Perhaps the message the youth were trying to tell the people that in this world weighed down by conflicts and tragedies there is a solution to all their woes and ills. Through the power of the cross we have the assurance that there is always an Easter Sunday after every Good Friday.  With Christ our lives is an endless hope, without Christ our life is an hopeless end.

Fr Lionel Xavier of the Salesians of Don Bosco lead the way of the Cross along with Fr Sony, the rector of the Salesian Mission in Liberia and  Fr Daniel Libby.
