Mangalore: CIL and MCC collaborate for malaria-free city

Mangalore, Apr 26: In collaboration with CIL (Centre for Integrated Learning), the MCC launched an awareness campaign against malaria, an infectious disease with the mission to have a malaria-free city.

Addressing a press meet at the MCC on Friday April 25, Mayor Mahabala Marla said, “The MCC in association with CIL (Centre for Integrated Learning) has taken an initiative to fight against malaria. MCC has issued an appeal to all hospitals, laboratories and clinics seeking their cooperation in sending reports on malaria and dengue to the MCC immediately, so that it would be helpful in preventing the spread of the disease.”

He said, “The CIL, with the help of children will hold the awareness programme and educate people on the infectious disease.”
The mayor symbolically inaugurated the campaign during the press meet.

Speaking on the Self Assessment Scheme he said, “It will be discussed with the council members in the next meeting which will be organized soon. A decision will be taken considering all the members.”

Srinivas Nandagopal, the convener of CIL gave a short description about the programmes and said, “CIL will organize lecture and demonstration sessions, teachers training workshops, Yakshagana, theatrical presentation and a painting event. 20,000 students from 50 schools will take part in these events.”

MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar, deputy mayor Kavitha and Shashidhar Hegde were present for the meet.
