Mangalore, Jun 23: Following the death of Ratan Joseph Pinto who met with an accident on a bad road at Mallikatte here on Saturday June 10 night, Superintendent of Police B Dayanand has instructed the city traffic to book cases against the MCC commissioner, the chief engineer and the contractor in-charge of the construction of the road in question.

The case had been initially registered with the Kadri police, but later handed over to the traffic police. As reported earlier, Ratan who was riding a mobike had fallen down from his mobike after it landed into a pothole on the road.  Owing to heavy rains, pothole was not seen by Ratan while riding.  He first fell on the road and then rolled down to roadside trench.

Though he was taken to the hospital almost immediately, he had succumbed to the injuries on the same night.
