Mumbai, May 2: Dr Issac Lobo, the first and the new Bishop of the newly formed Catholic diocese of Udupi appointed by the Holy See Pope Benedict 16, the Supreme head of Roman Catholics in the world is scheduled to be felicitated at Greater Mumbai on Sunday, May 4 at 4:30 pm.
Albert W D’ Souza, chief executive officer of Model Bank, Aldel Education organization and United Canarites Mumbai has said that the programme will be held at the St Xavier Engineering College grounds in front of Raheja hospital at Mahim west.
The sublime programme of felicitation to be held by the Catholic community will be presided over and blessed by Archbishop Dr Cardinal Oswald Gratius, of the archdiocese of Mumbai.
Prathviraj Chauhan, chief minister of Maharastra, Grace Pinto, pioneer of Rayan International group of Educational Institutes, Rakesh Maria, Police Commissioner of Mumbai, former official Julio Rebeiro, Michael Pinto, former vice president of national minority commission, Janet L D’ Souza, Chief executive of Maharastra state minority commission and other dignitaries are expected to arrive, said Rony R Mendonca, convener of Canarites association and former police commissioner of Mumbai.
The programme will consist of splendid mass, the programme of felicitation on 6.15 pm followed by cultural programme of the team led by Fr Charles Vaz.
Several committees are formed to prepare for the occasion. John D’ Silva will head the committee of donations, Walter Bothello is the president of Food committee, Lawrence D’ Souza Mulund is the president of stage and cultural programme, Charles D’ Cunha is the head of religious programme and Choir, Lawrence Coelho is the president of Souvenir and Publicity committee and Henry Lobo is working as the president of Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
Several meetings are held to prepare for the programme under the leadership of association president Albert W D’ Souza.
Hundreds of nuns from the city and thousands of community members of the Karnataka coastal region are expected to participate, said committee chief honorary secretary Lawrence D’ Souza Kamani.
