Udupi, Jun 29: The town police did a commendable job by nabbing the accused in the June 25 robbery at Ganesh Melting Shop at Vadiraj Road near Carstreet here on Wednesday June 28.

As reported earlier two unidentified men had managed to enter the shop on Sunday night after calling the name of one of the workers within.  Thinking that some one known has come, worker Sachin had opened the door.  But he was encountered with unidentified men who immediately tied his hand with nylon rope and shut his mouth with plaster.

Thereafter they had decamped with Rs 1.10 lac in cash, 100 grams of gold and 800 grams of silver.

But the town police managed to crack the case on a small clue.  Sachin's colleague Nitin was not present at the time of robbery.  He had gone to dinner with one Girish Acharya and his friend after the latter had invited him for dinner.  Police caught hold of Girish and enquired him.

At this point he revealed that he and one Guruprasad who works with him had masterminded the robbery.  They had availed the help of their friends Vishwanath and Shyam from Balehonnur in Chikamagalur district for this.  The police immediately went to Balehonnur and arrested Shyam and Vishwanath and seized stolen cash and ornaments from them.
