Stung by the results, AAP admits that it had made mistakes

New Delhi, May 17 (PTI): Stung by the dismal performance not only in Delhi, but also across the country in the Lok Sabha polls, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today admitted that its decision to quit the Delhi government in a hurry was a mistake.

"This was the first national election for the Aam Aadmi Party and there are some positive and negative indications out from it.

"As Arvind (Kejriwal) has earlier admitted that quitting Delhi was a mistake made and we could have communicated with the people in a better way. We will all learn from the mistakes made. We will discuss it within ourselves and go to people again and see how can we perform in future,"  Yogendra Yadav said while addressing a press conference at the party office.

The AAP leader said that the results were "shocking" as the party could not win a single seat in Delhi nor in some other constituencies, including Varanasi, where the party had put all its forces together.

"It is a shock to us. We did not get results as expected. The fact remains that we could not win one of the seven seats in Delhi and it has upset us. The party had built high hopes in Varanasi as we had converted that election into a contest and defeat has also upset us," he said.

He said that despite the defeat, AAP has increased its vote share from 30 to 33 per cent in Delhi and Congress has become irrelevant in state politics.

Party leader Manish Sisodia, however, added that there was a silver lining in the defeat, despite the lacklustre performance.

The party had fielded 443 candidates across the country, but has only managed to win four seats in Punjab and could not open any account in Delhi. Its party leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Kumar Vishwas who had taken on Narendra Modi from Varanasi and Rahul Gandhi from Amethi respectively, lost the electoral battles.

"Although, we have not been able to win a single seat in Delhi, we are able to win 4 seats in Punjab. Now we are a main party in two states in terms of vote share" Sisodia added.

"The Punjab politics is now a tri-polar contest where we are a major player now," Yadav added. The AAP leader said that despite the party's candidates polling over 1.5 crore across the country it has not been able to become a national party. "For becoming a national party we want six per cent of votes in four different states. We have managed to do that in Delhi and Punjab, but found it difficult in other states," Yadav said.

In 1984 BJP won only 2 seats and after 30 years a super majority. AAP will win a super majority in 15 years because it has won 4 seats in 2014. Modi won't be able to deal with corruption and effective laws for good governance. In Raja Sabha the numbers are not there to pass bills and opposition will oppose any thing he proposes. APP came on the plank of corruption and effective Lokpal. Fifteen years will pass quickly and India will at last will be truly democratic.

Had AAP not quit Delhi in 49 days and had they waited for Janlokpal bill until the elections, they would been ahead of Congress and taken the chair of opposition. The above two were the greatest blunders committed by AAP.

Don't insult all Indians just because u do not like Midi, the same applies to you as well that you are engulfed by congress black magic. Atleast learn the respect majority Indians decision and give a chance to Mr. Modo. We have tolerated corruption of congress so far lets be a little more tolerant to Modi. If he shows he is communal people will automatically respond in the comming election. Please do not close the doors of your brain. Let it start thinking.

Foolish guys, One Govt they couldn't run diplomatically, Put more than 400 candidates all over India when they do not have good ground anywhere. Of course this type of result is was emient that too after the Marriage of AAP with congress. AAP was & will be always seen as congress's child born out of wedlock to split the anti-congress votes that would have consolidated to Modi otherwise. If they had only concentrated on Delhi than falling into the hands of Delhi, AAP would have gained some grounds in the Capital and Modi wave could have hit more shores in India.

This BJP victory is actually the Victory of the Team of 60 people appointed by Modi to Use Tweeter & Facebook effectively since last 6 months and spread exaggerated news about the Development of Gujarat & Create a baloon of Modi Wave. This team is really successful. Every member of the team is paid Rs.10 lakhs each for this continuous work of opening hundreds of Tweeter A/cs in fictitious names and keep on Tweeting whole day.
The Photos of all these 60 people are published in today's Kannada Prabha daily under the heading " Namo Tweeter Sarkar "

    Dear Ravi B Shenava
This was not the election for Prime minister of Social Media. This election was fought on the Ground. Social Media was part of the campaign correct, but I guess 60%of the population do not have access for all these things. Even Congress leaders in Karnataka were boasting the same thing our eople will will vote on ground truth not media Hype which they claimed. Social Media, Visual Media, Adverts are all the means of communication used by all the parties. They voted based on ground reality.

Kejriwal had a good plat form to fight against corruption when he had began his campaign along with Anna. But his downfall was eminent the day he made a illicit marriage with congress in Delhi. He then only acted on the tunes of congress as their plan B and saw the same fate as congress at the end of the day. We have to wish him atleast for taking 2nd place in Delhi atleast where congress was pushed to third who had 7 MPs and now only zero.

In fact like I read somewhere Kejriwal dint get that much seats as much as slaps he may have got.

That you are rejoicing on the physical violence that AAP has been subject to, actually reveals what is in your mind.

AAP has taken more votes away from the congress than from BJP, AAP is 2nd in all assembly seats in Delhi displacing congress to distant 3rd, yet for you AAP supports the congress.

Like Rahul Gandhi and Modi, Arvind and Vishwas of the AAP could have easily contested from safe seats in Delhi where they could have easily won. No, they did not, AAP fieldded their two best candidates against Modi and Rahul Gandhi knowing fully well that the odds of victory where very low. Is Modi god, that you cannot cast an aspersion on him ?

If your Modi was so opposed to congress, why did he not go and challenge Rahul or Sonia directly in their seat or vice versa. This is like a fixed match right, Both the congress and BJP put up weak candidates against their top leaders, and pretend they are fighting against one another.

In Karnataka Modi has taken back Yediyurappa, despite him having corruption cases against him, directly from the lokayuktha. That should give you an idea as to how clean Modi is.

On corruption congress and BJP are conjoined twins, different style thats all.

ajay u must be joking... kejriwal stood against modi to split congress votes is it.ha ha.. this was actually his blunder. as kejriwal was fighting the election on anti corruption issues, he should have stood against sonia or rahul , unfortunately once he formed the delhi government, he was only yelling against BJP and gone silent on congress corruptions, which led to his downwall
