Dubai, Jul 2: Amidst an elite gathering of Kannada lovers and wellwishers of the Kukillaya family, “Kantisara etara kategallu” a compilation of short stories in Kannada  by Ranjani Suresh was released by Sarvottham Shetty, President of the Karnataka Sangha, Abu Dhabi at the Sunflower Restaurant in Bur Dubai on 30th June, 2006.

Ranjani Suresh, a well known personality not only in the field of art, literature, dramatics, singing, compering, public speaking etc, has added one more facet to her long list of talents and achievements. Vivacious by nature and always in social circles – be it social or religious or cultural Ranjini has never been out of the spotlight. Having recently been relocated to Dubai, Ranjani was feeling a bit lost and lonely as she had yet to acclimatize herself to the people and the surroundings.

This turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Ranjani whose restlessness and loneliness gave her the impetus to write stories in Kannada and it was a dream come true when she had the wonderful opportunity of releasing the same at an august function in Dubai. With all the support and encouragement from her family especially her husband Ranjini's book became a reality.

Ranjani's daughter Rashmi and her two  sons Rohan and Rahul sang the invocation prayer followed by the formal function.

Dr., B. R. Shetty who had consented to release the book unfortunately could not be present due to unavoidable circumstances and this honour was done by none the less a very important and well known personality not only of the Kannada field but a Karnataka Person Sarvottam Shetty. He lauded the efforts by Ranjani and appreciated how she upheld her mother tongue and took the pains to bring out this wonderful book which was very good for her first attempt.  Having had no formal training or background of journalism the book is worth reading.

Present at the dias during the release of the book were C R Shetty President of Karnataka Sangha Dubai, Ganesh Rai President Karnataka Sangha Sharjah and Prakah Payyar President of the Dhwani Pratisthana alongwith Suresh Kukkilaya Husband of Ranjani, and their daughter Rashmi (who had come from the States with her two sons Rohan and Rahul) and son Vignesh.

Manohar Tonse, a well known writer also gave his reflections on the book and commented on the quality of the writings.  He said that one should not stick to certain limitations and norms but should try to cross all the barriers to deliver the true meaning of the message.

CR Shetty and Ganesh Rai too felicitated Ranjani on this happy occasion.

As the guests walked in, they were entertained by the musical voices of Raviraj Thantry, Rajeshwar Holla, and Anupama Bhaskar accompanied by Vijay Noronha on the keyboard. Rajni Bhat compered the function with her melodious voice and also conducted a very interesting and informative Karnataka Quiz.
